This
Plan for the preservation and stewardship of San Marcos
Foothills (SMF) came about through the inspiration and efforts
of many individuals.
Authors
and Editors
The
concepts, organization, and general design of this document
were established by the SMFC Stewardship Plan Committee
(Mark Holmgren, Tom Stone, and Melissa Kelly) under the
direction of the San Marcos Foothills Coalition Board of
Directors.
Lisa
Pompa Tarin authored Part I, the Introduction. In the Lands
Story, Part II, Elias Chiacos (historical events) and Roberta
Cordero (the First Peoples relationship to the land)
wove history into elegant prose. Mark Holmgren authored
the subsection entitled Regional Environmental Setting.
Part III, Natural Resources, was the work of Mark Holmgren,
Melissa Kelly, and Lisa Pompa. Part IV, Stewardship, was
based on the input of our supporters, drafted by Pat Saley,
and refined by Lisa Pompa and the Stewardship Plan Committee.
Porter Abbott wrote the Conclusion, Part V. Porter Abbott
and Lisa Pompa edited the many drafts of the manuscript.
The
Stewardship Plan Committee designed, researched, and wrote
the text for the maps. Kevin Knight and Chris Stebbins,
AGC Consulting, prepared the maps.
Photographs
by Morgan Ball and Tom Stone captured the beauty and fascinating
web of life on SMF. Morgan Ball selected and prepared photographs.
The art work of Michael Drury, John Iwerks, and Zev Labinger
offer a dimension to the Plan that we could not achieve
through the text alone.
