Administration
continued

Updating the Plan: Updating, revising, or expanding the Plan should be coordinated by the Oversight Committee, and conducted annually if necessary, and accompanied by public announcements. New policies and proposed actions would be posted on the web version of the Stewardship Plan for San Marcos Foothills. In addition, a full Management Plan including actions, implementation priorities and schedules, and finances, should be prepared at an early date.

Policy Admin-8.5: Identify partnerships with other groups to implement the plan, including volunteers, utility companies, research oriented partners, user groups, long-term funding sources, and government agencies to implement the Stewardship Plan.

Policy Admin-8.6: Discuss any and all improvements to the land with relevant neighbors, partners, and effected parties to urge participation and to avoid negative effects of proposed actions.

Policy Admin-8.7: Provide emergency access as necessary to ensure the safety of people visiting or staffing the site.

Policy Admin-8.8: Coordinate with the County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service and other fire agencies in fuels
management, grassland management, and fire emergency response.

Policy Admin-8.9: Create contingency
plans for ecological disasters such as floods and fires.

Policy Admin-8.10: Maintain GIS
databases for all spatially-referenced aspects of management and administration.

Policy Admin-8.11: Coordinate with agencies and other groups in the gathering and disseminating of technical data relating to San Marcos Foothills.

Policy Admin-8.12: Monitor use and maintain records of visitors, purposes for visits, affiliations, and contacts.

Policy Admin-8.13: Insure that costs of returning the land to its prior condition following any activity should be anticipated and borne by the user.
