In close collaboration with local Chumash groups, Channel Islands Restoration is establishing a native plant garden in the community. As of 2023, our first project is underway, planting purple needlegrass (Stipa pulchra) and other natives at the San Marcos Foothills West Mesa. We will soon need volunteers to help with native planting and maintenance onsite.
